We woke up this morning to an already hot house! The temperatures were forecast to be in the low 100's for the weekend and the entire next week. We own a generator, but we'd loaned it out so we couldn't plug anything in or turn anything on. We were suppose to get it back today, but didn't know when it would show up. I didn't dare open my fridge so we went out for breakfast, to somewhere with air conditioning. We came home and waited for our generator, got our fridge and freezer going and left for a baptism and luncheon. Later that evening we went to a BBQ and then had to come home and face the heat. It was unbearable in our house. Luckily, we had an empty rental only 5 blocks away. The electricity was turned on. We thought we were going to have tenants moving in that weekend, but it hadn't worked out -so it was available. There was no furniture or anything - but it had power and a good A/C unit. We loaded up some mattresses and a few belongings and went to our new semi-home.
The house on the right is ours. The tree lost a large branch that took out our power and half of the neighbor's power. It's hard to see but there is a cord that runs from the back of our house to the neighbors roof and then under the tree branch - it's suppose to be attached to our house, right at the point of the our roof.
View of the wire from our upstairs window. The cable is still good, but the wire is torn apart (and no longer attached to our house).
Because it's just 2 houses and not a whole neighborhood, we are very low on the priority list.
Showered and ready for bed with daddy's van full of bedding. Headed for the rental house.
